RNS Institute of Technology is an engineering and technology institute located in Bangalore, Karnataka. RNS Institute of Technology, familiar as RNSIT was established in the year 2001. It is the brainchild of Dr. R. N. Shetty, well known industrialist, and a great philanthropist. Right from its inception in the year 2001, the institution is showing exemplary growth with respect to academics, placements, sports and cultural activities. With 9 UG engineering branches, 4 PG courses and 9 R&D centres.

College is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University. The Department of Computer Science of the college has been considered as one of the best in the state. RNSIT is among the top 10 engineering colleges in Karnataka offers admission to various UG and PG programs in a number of specializations.

Students get admission to the college through entrance exams like KCET or COMEDK. KCET exam is for candidates who are domicile of Karnataka for 7 years whereas COMEDK exam is for Karnataka and Non-Karnataka aspiring candidates for the engineering program. 45% seats are filled through KCET, 30% seats are filled based on COMEDK, all merit-based.

Admissions

CET –

An establishment of Govt of Karnataka, the Common Entrance Test (CET) cell conducts entrance test to determine the eligibility/merit, for admission to the first year or first semester of full-time professional courses for Government share of seats for BE i.e., all Engineering courses.

ComedK –

Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” (COMEDK) has been assigned the task of organising a common entrance test for Engineering, Medical and Dental courses.

JEE –

An establishment of Govt. of India conducts tests for Admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IIT.

GATE –

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science for admission into the Master’s Program (M.Tech.) and Recruitment by some Public Sector Companies.

Eligibility Criteria for UG programs

Candidate must have completed 2nd PUC/ 10+2 or Equivalent Exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/ Bio Technology/ Biology/ Electronics/ Computer Science as optional subjects with the aggregate percentage of 45 in the subjects taken together.

Scholarships –

Around 90% of SC/ST students get a scholarship every year, 80% of economically weak students of OBC get the scholarship every year through various state and national agencies. Scholarship is also given to some general merit students from LIC, their parent’s organizations and other sources. Various organizations from whom our students are getting scholarships are JINDAL, Sainik Welfare, Defence / PM Scholarship, MHRD (Merit), Vakkaligara Sanga, World Bunts foundation Trust (Bunt Sanga), Institution of Engineering Technology, INDIA Scholarships, LIC, Vishwa Konkani student scholarship fund and Many Community Scholarships. In some cases, minority scholarship amount is directly put into the student’s account, hence college cannot give an exact figure in terms of amount and percentage as it is not available with us hence these are not included.

Placement –

R.N.S.I.T is very reputed for its placement cell. The college attain to place 96% of its students with good salary package. Students’ performance has been increased due to specific training given on industry skill sets. TPC has shared platform specific practice tests to students, which has been regularly monitored is supported to raise in confidence level of the students.

Students who have an academic percentage of above 70% got placed through campus placements. The highest salary package offered in 2021 was 55 LPA and the average was around 4.5 LPA to 5 LPA. All students can do internships online or offline. The recruitment training is conducted by professionals from in house resources as well as professional trainers from the corporate world. The training sessions are scheduled during the semester breaks in addition to crash courses during the start of the campus placement season.
