Ramaiah Institute of Technology is an autonomous private engineering college affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University. MSRIT was established in 1962 and is ranked 65 by NIRF 2021 for BTech, and 32 by The Week 2021. MS Ramaiah is accredited with A grade by NAAC, NBA, and approved by AICTE, and DSIR. OVERVIEW
Electronics and Communication Engineering is concerned with the design, development, manufacture and application of electronic devices, circuits and systems. Electronics and Communication Engineering lays greater emphasis on deep understanding of fundamental principles and state of the art knowledge about Electronic Devices and Circuits, Computer Architecture and Microprocessors, VLSI and Embedded systems, Electromagnetic Field Theory, Analog and Digital Communication, Digital Signal Processing, Microwave and Broadband Communications. The department has well-qualified and experienced faculty with a healthy student to staff ratio of 15:1. Out of which seven are Doctorates, sixteen are pursuing Ph.D and remaining are Post-Graduates. Faculty members have their credit in technical papers published in international and national journals and conferences. They are also members of several important academic bodies. Initially, RIT was affiliated to Mysore University, later with the Bangalore University (until 2002) and now Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. It is an institutional member of the ISTE and is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) which is a must for any technical institute in India. It has been certified ISO 9001:2008 and has been accredited for quality education by the Central government of India Body National Board of Accreditation. Since August 2007, RIT has been academically autonomous for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. While VTU still awards the degrees, the college has academic freedom in framing its own schemes of study, curricula and student evaluation. Schneider Electric: RIT has signed a memorandum of understanding With global energy management company Schneider Electric to promote technical excellence in the field of electronics, software and control engineering. Intel Center of Excellence: International microprocessor giant Intel entered into an agreement with RIT to open a Centre of excellence in January 2010. DEPARTMENT HISTORY
The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was Establishment in the Year 1975 with initial intake of 60 for UG programme. In the year 2002, a PG programme in Digital Electronics & Communications and another PG programme in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems was started in 2013. Currently the UG programme has sanctioned intake of 120, PG programme in Digital Electronics & Communications has a sanctioned intake of 30, and the PG programme in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems has a sanctioned intake of 18. The department is accredited by Nation Board of Accreditation (NBA) four times for the period of 3 years each for UG and once for the period of 3 years for PG.
